Tribal Casino offers 250 Jobs in Florence Oregon

Posted by Dennis Pease on Tuesday, September 4th, 2007 at 11:50pm.

FLORENCE, Oregon - Wanted: 250 new employees in a town of less than 10,000 people.

It's not every day that an employer in the City of Rhododendrons posts a job ad like that. But Friday August 24th, 2007, the Confederated Tribes of Coos, Lower Umpqua and Siuslaw Indians began hiring in anticipation of the newer, bigger Three Rivers Casino and Hotel opening at year's end.

The tribe kicked off the Grand Opening of a new employment and information center with what some are calling a hiring boom, at the renovated site of the former Windward Inn.

All employees who work more than 32 hours a week get medical benefits. Open positions include blackjack dealers, cooks and managers.

New employees can find homes here using a traditional MLS Search to Custom Mapping showing the Homes location on a Google Map.

Three Rivers Casino expanded in 12/07 to a larger facility, and currently employes over 650 employees.
However you have to be employed for 6 months for insurance, and many of the positions like Dealers, food staff are minuim wage positions, mostly relying on tips for income.

Hi Michael,

As you can see I posted this when the casino first posted the job openings. Of course the casino has opened as you mentioned. We have been to some great concerts there since opening like Curtis Salgado, a well known blues artist in the northwest and enjoyed some great food.

If you would like to update us with more information, I'm sure many of my visitors would like to hear more about the casino and hotel from someone who is there on a daily basis.

As you mention some of the jobs are minimum wage plus tips, I’m not sure if all my readers know that minimum wage in Oregon is higher than many parts of the country. I’m not sure but I think it is $8.00 per hour? Tips can be pretty good making this one of the better entry level places of employment on the Oregon Coast, plus there is the opportunity for advancement and of course better jobs for those with experience.
