Memorial Day Tribute - Drive On by Johnny Cash
Posted by Dennis Pease on Monday, May 26th, 2008 at 9:20pm.I wanted to do some sort of tribute for Memorial Day, our killed and lost Soldirs, our Vets and all their families.
In my search I came across this Johnny Cash tune that just knid of hits home for me. Johnny Cash's music just kind of soothes my soul, so if you like Cash I hope you will enjoy this tune called "Drive On"

Jonathan, like you I have listened to a lot a Johnny Cash. In fact I thought I had heard about all of his music, but this was a new one on me too.

I think that's a very appropriate song. Many of us are kicking off the summer, so few of us remember what memorial day is really all about!

I have to agree with Chelle, very appropriate. With what is going on in the world, it's important to remember why we celebrate Memorial Day.

I love this song! It's from the album American Recordings that was put out in 1994. I'm not sure when it was written, but I know it from American Recordings. Great post!

Yeah, I searched the song, and Terry is right, it's from American Recordings. It's very appropriate to the video, exact song to be partner. I would suggest that we must be consistent to give tribute to our great heroes. They work hard and die because of protecting us, I think they deserve a lot of recognition.

Very appropiate. I did a similar post and found out some great stuff on Memorial Day and one of astonishing things I found was this quote:
""Changing the date merely to create three-day weekends has undermined the very meaning of the day. No doubt, this has contributed greatly to the general public's nonchalant observance of Memorial Day." -- VFW 2002 Memorial Day address"
I never knew the reasoning behind the moving the date until then. Pretty sad with the current world climate and US soldiers on tons of forgein soil that some people in the US do not really get it.

That was a great song. It's good to hear that you still remember those killed and lost soldiers of war. :-)

You're right; to so many people it is just a 3 day weekend and time for fun. I have been guilty of that many times myself but this year I really felt the meaning of Memorial Day more than I usually do.

I have listened to a lot of Johnny Cash and I can't say I have ever heard that tune. I liked it a lot and it's very appropriate for Memorial Day. I hope a lot of people will really begin to appreciate the people who serve and have served for our country.
