This is a fantastic niche that is only going to grow as the baby boomers keep moving into retirement (the first baby boomer filed for social security about a month ago.) Austin has a decent market for 55+ but nothing close to what it sounds like you guys have.

Our Broker of record is married to a local DA here and he says that Oregon is where he intends to retire. I have a hard time imagining he will go thru with it as both of them have lived here all their lives and their families are here but he says that is the most beautiful place on earth.

That's how I feel living here. Before moving to Oregon I spent 23 years in Las Vegas and we would vacation in Oregon every August, so as we hiked trails we could pick blackberries, blueberries & huckleberries. Every year I would tell my wife "we should plan on moving up here". Well one year after going back to LV and showing homes for 3 days in a row with temperatures of 112 to 117 degrees I decided that was all the planning I had to do. Think about it Wayne, to walk away from your business you have worked so hard to build and start over somewhere else. In our business it takes time to build your name recognition and client base. So I considered that and thought the longer I stay in Las Vegas the bigger my business would get and the harder it would be to leave. How do you plan to make a move like that before retiring? So we just moved. We still live in Florence, on the Central Coast which is just stunningly beautiful, but in November I moved back to RE/MAX which is who I spent years with in Nevada. So now going to the office is a 60 mile drive inland to Eugene, Oregon. I don’t go every day since I work Florence and Eugene, but I have to say I feel so blessed on the days I drive to Eugene, It is one of the most beautiful roads in Oregon. You follow the Siuslaw River east for quite a ways and then travel through beautiful forest the rest of the way. Eugene is a city built in the forest along the Willamette River and McKenzie River. If you ever get a chance Wayne you should come visit us.
