Eugene Oregon based Arlie & Company addressed the Florence Planning Commission to lay out plans for a 17 acre development and neighborhood village tentatively called “Cannery Hill.” The subdivision is planned to be built in phases on land across from Fred Meyer store north of town on Highway 101 and Munsel Lake Road, in an area of another new subdivision, Maxwell Construction's Spruce Village.
The proposed project by Arlie & Company would be a mixed use project (residential & commercial) which the developers say is intended to provide housing choices and employment opportunities including retail and services to meet the needs of residents just North of Florence.

The Rhody Days Festival is held the 3rd week of May every year in Florence Oregon on the amazing Central Oregon Coast. The festivities this year run May 16th, 17th and 18th, 2008.
This year makes 101 years of this springtime festival that first started in 1908 and that has seen many changes over the years. From the remote logging and fishing town of less than 500 residents to a tourist and retirement destination of roughly 9,000 residents with paved roads and a bridge spanning the Siuslaw River. Florence is now on the Scenic Coastal Highway 101 and only an hour from Eugene on Highway 126.
The annual Florence Rhody Days Festival has grown to over 100 parade entries and attracts an estimated 15,000 visitors for this fun and exciting 3 day…
Florence Again Rated "Coastal Gem" For Retirees

A National Magazine names Florence a prime spot for condo living.
Two weeks ago an article featuring Florence condominium living was published in the February/March issue of Where to Retire magazine.
The magazine article is unlikely to influence growth in Florence the way the highly publicized book Retirement Places Rated did in 2004 and 2005, but it might help the currently struggling condominium market.
“Eight Coastal Gems for Condo Living” by Mary Beagin describes coastal communities in California, Texas, Florida, North Carolina, Maryland and Oregon, and features Florence. The magazine has a readership of approximately 500,000.
Mary Lu Abbott, Where to Retire editor, said the publication's readers tend to be “well-educated adults in…
Run in with Black Bear in Florence Oregon's Park Village
Monday, November 19th, 2007 at 2:12am. 1102 Views, 12 Comments.
Wow I had an exciting day showing homes in the Park Village neighborhood of Florence which is just east of Greentrees Village where there are known to be at least 17 Resident Black Bears living.
As I drove my client into Park Village towards the end of the street where the builders are finishing the last phase we drove up on a large Black Bear that looked 500 to 600 pounds standing in the middle of the street at 1:00PM in the afternoon, he was huge.
He stood there and watched us for a minute before he ran east across the street into a neighbors backyard. It was really exciting to see this huge bear in the middle of the day no more than 100 feet in front of us.
So we went about our business and went into 65 Park Village, which is across the…
Idylewood - Florence Oregon Beach Area Real Estate

Part of the real beauty of living on the Oregon Coast is to see homes and neighborhoods built in natural settings with good sized yards. Neighborhoods like Idylewood and Haceta South in the beach area are good examples of this type living.
Residents of these areas enjoy the natural scenery and wild animals that roam the area. The homes are set apart enough that you still have neighbors but you feel like you own some of the forest too.
Most people that I show homes to will be moving to this area to get out of the
traditional subdivision with cookie cutter homes nearly stacked on each other. Many have expressed to me that they love the beauty of the natural coastal vegetation including a variety of berries like blackberries, blueberries and…
